1 beautiful evening in May, 100 pounds of crawfish, 50 pounds of shrimp, 20 pounds of catfish, 4 gallons of jambalaya, lots of cold beverages, 70+ of our closest family, friends and neighbors, plus our 2 cutie pies = the recipe for the 3rd annual Lemoine Crawfish Boil. It was a big success! We were so lucky with the weather, the food was delicious and everyone seemed to have a really great time. Kenzie and Lexi were definitely the best dressed at the party, thanks to their adorable Crawfish outfits from Granny. We also learned that Kenzie is quite the party girl as she did not want to sleep a wink for fear of missing out on the fun.
This year we were so fortunate to not only have Gail & Gene in town from New Orleans, but also Randall's sister Danielle, her husband Mike and our nephew and niece, Ethan & Brittany from Dallas, as well as my mom, sister, Inken, and brother-in-law, Andrew, from California. We could not have managed to throw this party without all of their help! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Many people thought I was crazy for having the party this year with 11 week old twins, but it was really very little work for me thanks to all of them. A special thank you to Papa Gene who drove 26 hours round trip in order to bring all of the fresh seafood. I think I speak for all 70+ people at the party that it was much appreciated!
You can definitely tell that our lives and those of our friends are evolving as there were so many kids at the party this year. When we had our first crawfish boil 3 years ago, there may have been 3 or 4 children from our neighborhood there, but this year we easily had 20 kids at the party. So the crawfish boil now also includes plenty of bubbles, sidewalk chalk, cornhole and beads. It is fun to think that next year Kenzie and Lexi will be running around with all of the other kids at the party and that in the years to come they will look forward to the Crawfish Boil with anticipation.
